What is Inner-Mama Nutrition, and how can it help me be a happier, healthier person?
If we are really being honest, what most of us want is a fabulously healthy body, a calm mind and a big ole’ heart. Inner Mama Nutrition, based on the principles of Ayurveda, the sister science of yoga, gives us the unlimited potential to attain all three.
The word Ayurveda comes from the combination of the root-word Ayur, meaning life, and Veda, meaning science. So, Ayurveda is, literally, the science of living. And how do we align ourselves with this juicy joyfulness and cosmic coolness, according to Ayurveda? By learning how to live in accordance to the never-ending ebb and flow of the Biggest Inner Mama of all – Mother Nature.
And not only do we align with the bigger picture. Through the tools and techniques of Ayurveda, we will dive deep inside ourselves using techniques self-exploration and self-observation. It requires a willingness to look into our own life challenges, our own areas of darkness. It also calls on us to ask ourselves difficult questions like, “Where is my own life lacking sweetness and nurturing?”
The more we understand these dark corners of our mind and emotions, the more our body and mind will naturally begin to align with the purity that is our true nature. This path is not easy. It requires radical self-honesty, compassionate contemplation and regular meditation. That’s right. I said the “m” word. This path also requires a shift in perspective. Ayurveda teaches us that we must first accept full ownership of our present life circumstances. That means we have to own our beer belly, our insomnia, our daddy-issues, our financial woes, our own “you fill-in-the-blank” bones of contention.
Through owning our present life circumstances, we take a massive leap into empowerment. We have a choice. We are the author of our own story. And Ayurveda offers us the tools to be able to write the most blissful, shiny story that we ever thought possible.
When diet is wrong, medicine is of no use.
When diet is correct, medicine is of no need.
Inner Mama Wellness Counselling- with Katie Silcox
The Initial Intake Consultation
I will send you an Ayurvedic intake form, which you can fill out before our first visit. This will help me understand as much as possible about your current physical and mental state before we meet. The first consultation will then be dedicated to understanding what elemental imbalances have developed in the body and mind. We will explore your current diet, lifestyle, personal history, health challenges, exercise routines and stress triggers. This conversation will give you insight into your personal dosha (mind/body type) and the way this dosha is supporting you naturally (prakruti), and the way that this dosha has come out of balance over time (vikruti).
The Heart of the Process: Follow-up meetings
After our first consultation, I will personally design an Inner Mama program for you. We will outline your own personal vision of wellness, and work to get there via the Ayurvedic paradigm. We will look into fitness, weight loss/gain, nutrition, stress, overall health and spiritual goals. These weekly sessions will keep us on track with our your powerful motivators, allowing us to develop strategies to overcome obstacles. You will learn life-affirming principles of Ayurveda, as well as the nature and origin of disease and discomfort in your mind, body and spirit. The healing journey will advance through the process of redirecting prana (life force and energy) through natural (mostly diet and herb-based) treatment designed to help change unhealthy. Follow up sessions will offer creative support, new recommendations and a multitude of meditative and cognitive therapies
INVESTMENT: $180 for intake and one follow up. $75 for additional follow-ups (recommended monthly)
