Walk into any pharmacy in America and you will be overwhelmed by the number of laxatives and sleeping pills on the shelves—laxatives because collective America is chronically constipated, and sleeping pills because we are a nation of acutely sleep-deprived, walking zombies. Combine our toxic overload diet with our sleep deprivation, and there you have it: the state of American health.

According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, when people don’t get enough sleep they are more likely to suffer from chronic diseases like hypertension, diabetes, depression, and obesity. The sleep-deprived have also been shown to suffer from higher rates of cancer, a reduced quality of life, and lowered productivity at work.
